Devils clip Cardinals
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Kyle Bozoian (St. Charles, Mo.) scored to break a 3-3 tie at 7:06 in the third period. Fredonia State (3-1-1, 1-0-0) would not look back, earning a 4-3 victory in the SUNYAC conference opener against Plattsburgh Friday night.
Joe Muli (Sioux Lookout, Ont./Chatham) kept the Devils in the game early scoring two goals in the first two periods.
Senior Kraig Kuzma broke a 2-2 tie in the third period at 4:55, but Plattsburgh (2-1-0, 1-1-0) sophomore forward Riley Hill came back to tie the game 3-3 just 49 second later. The goal was Hill's second of the game. Bozoian's game-winner came just 1:22 after that.
Juniors Neal Sheehan (Avon Lake, Ohio) and Steve Albert (Port Huron, Mich.) assisted on the game winner to Bozoian. The assist made Sheehan the leading scorer for the Devils on the season with nine points.
Fredonia State freshman goaltender Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) stopped 36 of 39 shots to earn the win.
Junior Evan DiValentino (Burlington, Ont.), freshman Frank Soscia (Richmond Hill, Ont./Aurora) and seniors Wil Barlow (Oakville, Ont./Oakville) and Scott Bradley (Belleville, Ont.) all added one assist during the game.
Plattsburgh goaltender Karl Helgesson saved 20 shots, allowing four goals in the loss. Senior forward Ryan Busby also added two assists in a losing effort.
The Blue Devils will continue conference play against Potsdam Saturday 7 p.m. at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
