Lakers down Devils, 6-2
OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State yielded four special-teams goals Saturday in a 6-2 SUNYAC loss to the Oswego Lakers.
Right winger Peter Magagna had three goals for the Lakers (4-2-0), who had two power-play goals and two goals while shorthanded.
The Blue Devils (3-2-1, 0-1-1 SUNYAC) tallied two power-play goals of their own.
Junior forward Kraig Kuzma (Muskegon, Mich.) scored his third goal of the season at 6:14 of the second period, assisted by sophomore defenseman Steve Albert (Port Huron, Mich.).
The Blue Devils cut their deficit to 3-2 at the exact midpoint of the game -- 10:00 of the second period -- on an unassisted goal by senior forward Jim Gilbride (Parma, Ohio). It was also Gilbride's third goal of the season.
But that would be as close as the score would get the rest of the way.
Oswego held a 36-29 advantage in shots. Fredonia State senior goalkeeper Rick Cazares (San Jose, Calif.) made 30 saves.
SUNYAC competition for the Blue Devils resumes Nov. 11 vs. Brockport at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
