The Devils advanced to a 2-0 lead near the end of the second period with a shorthanded goal. Bryan Goudy (Port Huron, Mich.) would score on an assist from Neal Sheehan (Avon Lake, Ohio).

Geneseo answered in the third frame, as Mathieu Cyr (New Maryland, New Brunswick) drove home a power play goal with just over seven and a half minutes left in the period. Assists came from Tyson Terry (Abbotsford, B.C.) and Steve Sankey (N. Vancouver, B.C.).

The game featured 25 total penalties, 13 going against the Blue Devils. The Devils were one for 11 on power play opportunities. Geneseo was one for 12.
