Devils fall to Neumann
ASHTON, Pa. -- Neumann rolled to a 6-3 men's hockey victory Friday over Fredonia State. It was the fifth straight win for the hosts.
The Blue Devils (5-4-3) trailed 5-0 in the escond period before sophomore Jeff Aonso (Toronto, Ont.) broke through with an unassisted goal, his first of the season.
Andrew Hess (Bowling Green, Ohio) tallied a power-play goal to cut the Fredonia State deficit to 5-2 at the 13:31 mark of the third period. It was the third goal of the season for Hess, a freshman.
After the Knights (9-4-0) regained a four-goal lead at 6-2, senior Adam Haberman (Novi, Mich.) closed out the scoring with the Blue Devils' second power-play goal of the night. It was Haberman's second goal of the season.
Patrick Street (Annapolis, Md.) started in goal for the Blue Devils and left after allowing five goals on 27 shots faced. He was replaced by junior Kevin Amborski (Bloomfied), who stopped 15 of 16 shots over the final 31:25.
Neumann's Mike Hedden, the leading goal-scorer in NCAA Division III, added three more to his season total of 16 in 13 games. His teammate, Neil Trimm, had a four-point game (1 goal, 3 assists).
The teams play again Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Ashton Ice Works.
