Devils fall again to Neumann
ASHTON, Pa. -- Fredonia State ran into an offensive juggernaut that is the Neumann Knights for the second day in a row.
Led by the nation's leading goal scorer Mike Hedden, the Knights (10-4-0) won for the fifth straight time with a 7-2 home win. Hedden, who had three goals in both games against the Blue Devils (5-5-3), has 19 goals this season.
Neumann claimed a 6-3 victory Friday.
With the goal of trying to stay out of the penalty box against Neumann's potent power-play unit, the Blue Devils afforded their hosts 13 man-advantages Saturday. The Knights converted three times.
The Blue Devils trailed 1-0 when senior Adam Haberman (Novi, Mich.) scored for the second time in two nights at 4:17 of the second period. Haberman's goal, his third of the season, forged a 1-1 tie.
When the Blue Devils scored again later in the period, it cut their deficit to 5-2. The goal was the fifth of the season by freshman Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.).
In goal, junior Kevin Amborski (Bloomfield) made 28 saves and allowed five goals over the first two periods. Sophomore Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) stopped 10 of 12 shots in the third period.
