Devils down Bears in overtime

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Jeff Aonso (Toronto, Ont.) scored at 2:15 of overtime to lift Fredonia State to a 3-2 SUNYAC road win over Potsdam.

James Muscatello (Baldwinsville) earned an assist on Aonso's goal, his second of the season and only the third of his collegiate career. Aonso is a sophomore.

The Blue Devils (11-7-3, 7-3-2 SUNYAC) rallied twice from one-goal deficits. Down 1-0 in the second period, they first knotted the score 16 seconds into the period as Neal Sheehan (Avon Lake, Ohio) netted his ninth goal of the year and his 53rd as a Blue Devil.

Adam Haberman (Novi, Mich.) had a two-point game -- an assist on Sheehan's goal, and his fifth goal of the season on a power-play at 13:09 of the second period. Steve Albert (Port Huron, Mich.) and Chris de Bruyn (Calgary, Alberta) assisted on Haberman's goal, which forged a 2-2 tie.

The teams played a scoreless third period with Fredonia State's Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) making 11 saves plus one save in overtime. He had 34 saves overall while raising his record to 9-4-1.

Fraser Smith and Jeff Zatorski had the goals and goaltender Rick Miller made 25 saves for the Bears (7-10-4, 4-5-3 SUNYAC).

Fredonia State completes its North Country trip with a 7 p.m. game Saturday at Plattsburgh, the No. 3 team in the latest NCAA Division III poll.
