Pink-clad Devils roll over Red Dragons
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State equalled its best offensive game of the season Friday before an overflow crowd on hand for Pink the Rink '08 at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
Junior forward Bryan Goudy (Port Huron. Mich.) netted three goals -- all in the second period -- in an 8-2 SUNYAC win over the Cortland Red Dragons.
Senior forward Neal Sheehan (Avon Lake, Ohio) had a goal and three assists. In the process, he moved past Brad Preston into fifth place on the Fredonia State all-time scoring chart. Sheehan has accumulated 130 points while Preston -- part of the capacity crowd estimated at 1,024 -- had 129 points during the mid-1990s.
Also, sophomore forward Matt McKeown (Niagara Falls, Ont.) had two goals and two assists, and senior Steve Albert (Port Huron, Mich.) had one goal and two assists.
Fredonia State junior goaltender Kevin Amborski (Bloomfield) made 35 saves.
The Blue Devils (13-7-3, 9-3-2 SUNYAC) wore commemorative pink sweaters and matching pink socks as part of the Pink the Rink promotion. The sweaters were raffled off with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society's battle against breast cancer.
The Blue Devils are back in action 7 p.m. Saturday against Oswego.
