Sophomore Matt Zeman (Rocky River, Ohio) scored a pair of goals in a span of 2:28 to lead the Blue Devils (16-4-4). Freshman Steve Albert (Carlisle, Ont.) and junior Jim Gilbride (Parma, Ohio) had one goal each. Goaltender Rick Cazares (San Jose, Calif.) made 27 saves for Fredonia State. Jeremy Nau (Rochester) and Kevin Watters (Pittsord) had goals for Cortland, with Watters giving his team a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded tally at 12:57 of the first period. Zeman scored the equalizer with a shorthanded goal at 19:00 of the first period, then scored the go-ahead goal at 1:18 of the second period. Cortland goaltender Matt Meacham (Massena) made 39 stops. The teams meet again 7 p.m. Saturday, with Cortland (10-14-2) needing a win to force a 10-minute mini-game.
