Devils rally to tie Potsdam

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Fredonia State rallied from a two-goal deficit with a pair of late goals to claim a 6-6 SUNYAC tie Saturday with Potsdam.

Goals by junior Tom Briggs (Fruitport, Mich.) and freshman Evan DiValentino (Burlington, Ont.) completed the Blue Devil comeback which began with less than five minutes remaining in regulation.

Briggs scored his third goal of the season at 15:34. DiValentino netted his second of the year 1:13 later to forge the tie.

Four other players scored for the Blue Devils (14-3-4, 8-2-2), including the first collegiate goal by sophomore Will Barlow (Oakville, Ont.). Also scoring goals were junior Steve Greenberg (East Lansing, Mich.), senior Riley McTaggart (Bellevue, Wash.), and freshman Chad Berman (Kentwood, Mich.).

Pat Lemay (Orleans, Ont.) had two goals for the Bears (9-12-2, 5-6-1) while Ryan McCarthy (Brampton, Ont.) had a five-point game (one goal and four assists).

Fredonia State goaltender Rick Cazares (San Jose, Calif.) made 28 saves. Rob Barnhardt (Fort Erie, Ont.) started in net for Potsdam and have 17 saves for leaving the game in the second period. Vince Cuccaro (Ottowa, Ont.) made 21 saves in relief.
