Sophomore Kyle Bozoian (St. Charles, Mo.) scored on a 5-on-3 power play at 17:12 of the second period to account for the Fredonia State scoring. Sophomores Brian Kolesar (Broadview Heights, Ohio) and Matt Zeman (Rocky River, Ohio) were credited with assists on Bozoian's goal, his seventh of the season. Goaltender Rick Cazares (San Jose, Calif.) had 38 saves in 65 minutes of duty -- regulation time, plus a scoreless five-minute overtime. The Blue Devils (13-1-3 NCAA) were outshot, 39-29. Utica (9-4-5) took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Ryan Dolan at 14:06 of the second period, but the Pioneers could not gain the full measure of revenge from their 4-3 overtime loss Jan. 15 at Fredonia State. In that game, the Blue Devils tied the score with :08 left and won it in overtime. The earlier Utica game was the first of three straight overtime games by the Blue Devils. They went an extra five minutes Friday in a 4-4 SUNYAC tie with Buffalo State. The Blue Devils entered the week ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division III by USCHO.com. A new poll will be released Jan. 24.
