Second semester set to begin

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked Fredonia State men's hockey team will be the first Blue Devil squad to compete in 2005.

The Blue Devils (12-1-1, 7-0-0 SUNYAC) face off against St. Clair College of Windsor, Ont., at 8 p.m. today, and then again at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Fredonia State won a prior meeting, 6-2, on Nov. 19 at Steele Hall.

Neither game will likely count against the Blue Devils' No. 8 national ranking because St. Clair, a full varsity program, is a non-NCAA sanctioned team. The NCAA Division III poll is conducted by USCHO.com.

This weekend's games at St. Clair are the first two of four straight non-conference games on the Blue Devil schedule. The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC competition Jan. 21 at home against Buffalo State.

The Fredonia State men's basketball team will also resume its season this weekend. The Blue Devils (4-5, 2-1 SUNYAC) are on the road Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip-off at Thiel College.

The women's basketball team returns to action Tuesday at Medaille College. Game time is 6 p.m.

Fredonia State's first home event of 2005 is also Tuesday, a men's and women's swim and diving matinee vs. Buffalo State starting at 2 p.m.
