Geneseo 14, Fredonia State 5

GENESEO, N.Y. – Fredonia State lost its SUNYAC opener, 14-5, Tuesday to Geneseo.

Junior attacker Katelyn Ferry (Lancaster/Lancaster) had three goals for the Blue Devils (0-2). Senior midfielder Aimee Baxter (East Rochester/East Rochester) and sophomore defender Erynn Anderson (Dewitt/C.W. Barker) had one goal each.

The teams were tied 2-2 in the first half when Geneseo's Krystina Danizio put her team up for good for her first of two goals. She was one of six players with two goals for the Blue Knights (3-0).

Geneseo outshot the Blue Devils, 36-15. Fredonia State senior goalkeeper Sarah Kretz (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) made 15 saves.

The Blue Devils play their home opener 4 p.m. Thursday against Medaille College. They have defeated Medaille three straight games by a combined score of 67-14, including a 24-3 victory in 2003.

On Friday, St. John Fisher is the opponent in women’s lacrosse (4 p.m.)
