Devils Win Opener 11-9

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Blue Devils (1-0) opened their season with an 11-9 win over the Elmira Soaring Eagles (1-1).

The Devils led in the first half 8-4, with Katie Monaghan (Fairport/Fairport) leading the way with three goals.

The Soaring Eagles made a valiant effort in the second half to come within a goal of the Devils, 10-9, with 2:21 to play in the game. With 1:21 left, Fredonia's Emily Fink (Penfield/Penfield) went on to score and maintain a two goal lead to ultimately close out the game.

The Blue Devils take their winning record on the road to West Palm Beach, Florida where they will take on Massachusetts Institute of Technology on March 24 at 9 a.m.
