MIT defeats Blue Devils in Florida

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Fredonia State's first of two Florida Spring Fling games ended with a 13-8 loss Monday to Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Blue Devils (1-1) trailed 7-3 at the half and were unable to bounce back. Seven players had at least one goal with sophomore Valerie Snider (Spencerport) scoring twice. In addition, sophomore Katie Monaghan (Fairport), senior Christie Zaganiaczyk (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon), and freshman Emily Fink (Penfield) had one goal and one assist each.

Senior goalkeeper Sarah Wright (Rochester/Irondequoit) made nine saves, while sophomore Emily Reichert (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) was credited with six groundballs and three caused turnovers. Senior Janelle Giehl (Rochester/West Irondequoit) was credited with five groundballs, while senior Leslie VonPless (Liverpool) had three groundballs and three caused turnovers.

The Blue Devils are back in action 9 a.m. Wednesday vs. Wellesley, again at Palm Beach, Fla.
