Devils go 1-2 on Florida trip

WELLINGTON, Fla. -- Losses to Clarkson and Plymouth State left Fredonia State with a 1-2 record during their annual spring trip to Florida.

They opened the trip with a 10-6 win over Frostburg State.

The 12-11 loss to Clarkson on March 21 brought an end to the Blue Devils' school-record seven-game winning streak, including the last six games of the 2006 season. Down 7-1 at one point, the Blue Devils rallied to within one goal of the lead three times. The top scorer was freshman Katie Monaghan (Fairport/Fairport) with five goals and two assists.

Plymouth State sent the Blue Devils to a 15-6 loss on March 22. The offense was led by junior Carrie Halstead (Penfield/Webster-Schroeder) with two goals, while sophomore Jennifer Haas (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) had one goal and one assist after scoring three goals vs. Clarkson the day before.

The Blue Devils return to action Wednesday at Allegheny College.
