Devils down Wellesley at Spring Fling

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Five players had two goals each and senior goalkeeper Sarah Wright (Rochester/Irondequoit) made nine saves to lift Fredonia State over Wellesley at the Spring Fling.

The Blue Devils (2-1) jumped into a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by senior Christie Zaganiaczyk (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) in the first three miniutes of action. Freshman Laura Culhane (Rochester/Gates-Chili), freshman Alyssa Przydrozny (Marcellus), freshman Kelsey Lamb (Niskayuna), and sophomore Emily Reichert (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) later scored twice each.

Sophomore Katie Monaghan (Fairport) had three assists, freshman Emily Fink (Penfield) had two, and Reichert and Culhane had one assist each. The Blue Devils had a 23-8 advantage in groundballs and a 25-14 advantage in caused turnovers, led by Przydrozny with five.

Wright yielded two goals in the first half and one in the second while posting her 22nd career victory. She and her teammates are back in action Saturday at the College of Wooster.
