Devils halt skid with OT win over RIT

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State broke a five-game losing streak with a 12-11 overtime win over Rochester Institute of Technology.

Sophomore midfielder Nicole VanEtten (Endicott/Union-Endicott) scored two goals during overtime, including the game-winner with :05 seconds left in the first of two extra three-minute periods.

VanEtten finished with four goals in the game while sophomore attacker Jessica DeBolt (Livonia/Livonia) had three goals.

Sophomore attacker Kaleena Goldsworthy had a pair of goals for the Blue Devils (3-7), including one late in the first overtime period. With 66 goals in two seasons, she's tied with current Blue Devil assistant coach Erynn Anderson for seventh on the school all-time goals list.

The Tigers (1-9) were led by senior attacker Pinckney Templeton (Gulf Stream, Fla.), who had five goals. Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Evans (Carlisle, Pa.) was credited with 27 saves.

Down 6-2 in the first half, the Blue Devils scored six unanswered goals to take an 8-6 lead. RIT scored three of the last four regulation goals, two by Templeton and the game-tying tally by junior attacker-midfielder Lisette Silver (Massapequa) with 2:21 left in the second half.

Fredonia State sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Wright (Rochester/Irondequoit) made seven saves and collected three ground balls. She was also credited with one caused turnover.

The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC action with a home game 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Brockport.
