Devils pull out close win
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Freshman midfielder Kelsey Lamb (Niskayuna) scored the game-winning goal with :27 seconds remaining as Fredonia State (10-4) went on to beat the RIT Tigers (6-7) by a score of 12-11.
Senior attacker Christie Zaganiaczyk (Lancaster) had four goals and three assists to lead the Blue Devils (10-4). Also, senior attacker Leslie Von Pless (Liverpool) scored her only goal with one-tenth of one second remaining in the first half to tie the score at 5-5.
Sophomore midfielder Katie Monaghan (Fairport) and freshman attacker Laura Culhane (Rochester/Gates-Chili) had two goals each. Both Monaghan and Culhane added assists, with Culhane having two.
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Wright (Rochester/Irondequoit) added to her school record by recording her 30th career victory. Wright was credited with nine saves while facing 21 total shots.
The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC play when they take on Potsdam at 1 p.m. Saturday at University Stadium.
