Late surge allows Gannon to pull away

ERIE, Pa. – Gannon University scored five unanswered goals in the second half to distance itself from the Blue Devils (5-5) in non-conference women's lacrosse, 14-9.

Freshman Kaleena Goldsworthy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and Molly Meagher (Livonia/Livonia) had three goals each for the Blue Devils, who trailed 5-4 at halftime and 9-7 with 12:51 left in the game.

That triggered Gannon's 5-0 run. Mindy Richmond had two of the goals, and seven in the game, for the host Knights (9-4) during their decisive stretch. She has 83 goals this season.

The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC competition when they face Geneseo at 4 p.m. Friday in Fredonia.

NOTES: Seniors Katelyn Ferry (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Erynn Anderson (Dewitt/C.W. Baker) continue to move up the Fredonia State all-time scoring lists this season.

Ferry has 13 goals this season and 92 as a Blue Devil, third on the all-time goals list behind Kelly Domm (126) and Claudia Jezioro (99). She also is ranked fifth all-time with 113 points, 18 of them coming this season.

Anderson is seventh all-time with 61 goals (16 this season), and seventh in total scoring with 97 points (27 this season).

Meanwhile, Goldsworthy is nearing the all-time single-season goal leaders with 28 this spring. That's four short of fifth place on the school-record list.
