The Blue Devils (5-7, 0-4 SUNYAC) jumped to a 12-2 lead on two baskets by senior guard Chris Donahue (Olean/Olean), one of them a three-pointer, and one basket each by senior guard Tim Anderson (Jamestown/Jamestown), junior guard Taha Alassari (Brooklyn/Sweet Home), and senior forward Devin Watkins (Franklinville/Franklinville). The teams were tied 37-37 at intermission before the Lakers (9-2, 3-0 SUNYAC) took over to start the second half. They opened a lead as large as 12 points, 61-49, on a basket by senior forward Ahmad Mims (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse), two of his game-high 20 points. Fredonia State turned up its defensive effort and battled back to trail 65-62 on a back-door layup by junior forward Kevin Reichlmayr (Rochester/Aquinas Institue) with 1:26 left. The Lakers made their free throws in the final minute as junior guard Nicholas Perioli (Liverpool/Liverpool) was 4 of 4 and freshman guard Tom Downing (Staten Island/Curtis) sank a pair. Perioli finished with 12 points and 10 assists and Downing added 11 points for the Lakers. Anderson was the lone Blue Devil in double figures with 19 points.
