Fourteen lead changes highlighted the second half. The Devils took the lead for good when Taha Alassari (Brooklyn/ Sweet Home) drained a 3-point field goal with 8:09 remaining giving the Devils a 51-50 advantage. New Paltz would claw to within two points in the closing seconds. However, Chris Donahue (Olean) hit a free-throw with 0.9 seconds remaining to put the Blue Devils up by four and seal the deal. The Blue Devils (6-7, 1-4 SUNYAC) had nine players that figured in the scoring column. Senior guard Mike Kelly (Corning/ Corning East) led the way with 12 points. Alassari and sophomore forward Kyle Gordon (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) scored 11 each. Gordon was also the leading rebounder for Fredonia State with eight. New Paltz (4-9, 1-4) was lead by junior guard Matt Irwin (Brooklyn/St. Edmund Prep) with 15 points and junior forward Bobby Kaible (Saugerties) with 13 markers. Junior forward John Hauser (East Williston/ Chaminade) had 11 points and 9 rebounds, while senior guard Keith Crichlow (Central Islip) had 10 points for the Hawks.
