Up by as many as 13 points in the first half, the Blue Devils (4-12) saw their lead dwindle until the Mustangs (3-13) forged a 35-35 tie with 11:29 left. Fredonia State regained command with a 7-0 run. A lay-up by freshman forward James Kane (West Seneca/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) got the run started, followed by a three-pointer by freshman guard Kevin Saunders (Batavia/Batavia). Junior forward Adam Smith (Fredonia/Fredonia) made it 42-35 with a lay-up. The Blue Devils continued to add to their lead until they were up 60-41 with 1:10 to go. The 19-point advantage was their largest of the game. Nine Blue Devils entered the scoring column, led by Smith with 12 points. Senior junior Taha Alassari (Brooklyn/Sweet Home) aded 11, and freshman Brad Cooper (Forestburgh/Monticello) had 10 points. Senior forward Kevin Reichlmayr had a team-high seven rebounds to go along with seven points. Morrisville was led by junior guard Adeowale Olasokan (Brooklyn/Boys & Girls) with 10 points. Fredonia State returns to the road for SUNYAC games later this week: Friday at SUNYIT, Saturday at Plattsburgh.
