Geneseo's 3-point shooter does in Devils

GENESEO, N.Y. -- Geneseo's long-range shooting was one key to its 75-54 SUNYAC win over Fredonia State.

The loss was the third straight for the Blue Devils (8-11, 3-8 SUNYAC), who were led by senior Tim Anderson (Jamestown/Jamestown) with 20 points.

Senior Chris Donahue (Olean/Olean) added 10 points while sophomore Adam Smith (Fredonia/Fredonia) had nine points and nine rebounds.

Steve McDonnell (Fairport) scored a career-high 28 points and hit a school record 9 three-point field goals to lead Geneseo (9-9, 4-5 SUNYAC), which led 44-28 at halftime.

McDonnell and his high school coach, Scott Fitch, previously held the Geneseo record of eight treys in a game.

Fredonia State will look to get back on track Friday when Oneonta visits Steele Hall. Game time is 8 p.m.
