The Blue Devils (2-8) trailed only once, 3-2, and led by as many as 21 points in the first half before the three-point shooting Hawks (6-6) -- 15 of 30 in the game from beyond the arc -- rallied in the second half. Senior forward Kevin Reichlmayr (Rochester/Aquinas) had 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead Fredonia State. Fourteen of his points came in the first half, which ended with the Blue Devils up, 48-35. The combination of senior guard Glen Ufland (Buffalo/Bishop Timon) and junior guard Dallas Reinard (Smethport, Pa.) keyed the Hilbert rally. Ufland connected on nine three-point baskets and finished with 31 points, while Reinard had 24 points, including three from beyond the arc. In addition, senior forward Corey Vander Sluis (Syracuse) came off the Hilbert bench to contribute 16 points. Through their combined efforts, the Hawks cut their deficit below double digits with 4:19 to go and got as close as two points, 84-82, on a three-pointer by junior guard Mike Reyes (Buffalo/Bishop Timon) with :04 left. Reyes also finished with nine assists. Blue Devil freshman guard Kevin Saunders (Batavia/Batavia) made two insurance free throws with :03 left and was 7 of 8 from the line in the final 1:38. He finished with 16 points, senior guard Taha Alassari (Bronx/Sweet Home) added 14, including two clutch free throws down the stretch, and junior center Kyle Gordon (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) added 12 points on 6 of 8 shooting. The win ended an eight-game losing streak by Fredonia State heading into a pair of SUNYAC home game this weekend, 8 p.m. Friday vs. Oswego and 8 p.m. Saturday vs. Cortland.
