A free throw by senior forward Kevin Reichlmayr (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) broke the tie with :35 seconds to go. Freshman guard Brad Cooper (Forestburgh/Monticello) made a free throw with nine seconds remaining to push the Fredonia State lead out to two points.

Keystone's Frank Peters went to the line with :01 left but missed both ends of a two-shot foul and time ran out.

Alassari led the Blue Devils (1-0) in three offensive categories with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Cooper added 12 points and freshman guard Kevin Saunders (Batavia/Batavia) added 10 points.

Junior center Kyle Gordon (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) also pulled down eight rebounds.

The Blue Devils will try to win the tourney title when they face Nazareth at 3 p.m. Saturday. The host Golden Flyers advanced with a 91-69 win Friday over Morrisville State.
