Devils fall short on the road

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Fredonia State led by as many as eight points before falling to Brockport, 70-62, in a SUNYAC opener for both teams.

The Blue Devils (1-2, 0-1 SUNYAC) held a 15-7 advantage at the 14:01 mark of the first half, and were up 32-25 at halftime.

The Golden Eagles (4-0, 1-0 SUNYAC), averaging 94 points per game as a team before Tuesday, finally caught up and took their first lead, 40-38, with 13:21 left. The lead changed hands twice more and the teams were tied a total of eight times in the see-saw struggle.

Senior forward Kevin Reichmayr (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) finished with 15 points while freshman guard Kevin Saunders (Batavia/Batavia) added 14 to lead the Blue Devils.

Senior guard Taha Alassari (Brooklyn/Sweet Home) had six assists, four steals, and was one of five Blue Devils with five rebounds.

Fredonia State returns to SUNYAC play in its next two road games: Friday at New Paltz, Saturday at Oneonta.
