Behrend's Buczynski nets 41 in win over Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State closed out the first semester with a 72-58 non-conference home loss to Penn State Behrend.

The Blue Devils (3-6) had no answer inside for Behrend's 6-7 sophomore center Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria), who finished with 41 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard J.J. Ferguson (Summerville/Clarion-Limestone) added 10 points.

Buczynski was 14 of 21 from the field and 13 of 14 from the line for the Lions (5-1).

Senior forward Tim Anderson (Jamestown/Jamestown) led Fredonia State with 15 points and four assists. He also grabbed five rebounds.

Senior guard Mike Kelly (Corning/Corning East) added 13 points off the Blue Devil bench, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc.

The Blue Devils trailed 28-26 late in the first half before the Lions closed out the half with a 5-0 run, then picked up where they left off after intermission to take a 41-28 lead early in the second half. Buczynski had all 13 points during what turned out to be a 13-2 run between the two halves.

Fredonia State is idle until Jan. 4 when they travel to Houghton.
