Junior guard Rich Buckmon (Syracuse/Heninger) had 16 points and sophomore guard Brad Cooper (Monticello) added 11 for the Blue Devils (1-4). Cooper made two free throws in the final seconds to secure the win. In the process, Fredonia State's Kevin Moore claimed a coaching win over his brother, Andy, head coach of the Panthers (5-2). The Blue Devils led only briefly early in the first half, and likewise early in the second half, before falling behind 42-35 with 14:05 left in the game. The uphill climb leveled off with 3:37 left when a three-point basket by Cooper forged a 51-51 tie. The scored was tied twice more and the lead changed hands three times down the stretch.
