With the teams tied 41-41, the Panthers (5-2) scored the next 11 points. Sophomore guard Shawn Spindler (Bradford, Pa.) started the run with a basket, and later added two free throws. The Blue Devils (1-5) cut their deficit to 52-46 before Pitt-Bradford's Dan Thomas, in a span of 14 seconds, had two steals and two layups for a 56-46 Pitt-Bradford lead with 5:20 remaining. The next time the Blue Devils were within six points came with :57 left. Free throws by senior guard Taha Alassari (Brooklyn/Sweet Home) cut the deficit to 59-53. Thomas answered with two free throws to push the Panthers back out to an insurmountable three-possession lead. Alassari finished with 15 points and four assists, while senior forward Kevin Reichlmayr (Rochester/Aquinas) had 14 points and six rebounds. Thomas led Pitt-Bradford with 16 points and five assists. Spindler added 15 points. The game, the Blue Devils' home-opener, matched sibling head coaches for the fourth straight year. Fredonia State's Kevin Moore and UPB's Andy Moore have split the four games. The Blue Devils are back in action Friday when they face Houghton College in the first round of the RIT Tournament.
