Brad Cooper (Monticello) led the Blue Devils (2-4, 1-1 SUNYAC) with 21 points. Julius Bryant (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) added 15 points and Rich Buckmon (Syracuse/Heninger) had a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Fredonia State never trailed and took a 7-0 lead on a three-point basket by Buckmon early in the first half. The Blue Devils led by as many as 19 points in the second half. The Blue Devils outrebounded the Wildcats 51-38 for the game and cleaned up on the offensive glass. The Devils hauled down 24 offensive rebounds which they turned into 31 second chance points. The Wildcats trailed by 10 or more for much of the second half but finally cut it to single digits, 64-55, with 4:40 left on five straight points from senior Maher Abuawad. The Devils, however, built their lead right back up with three straight baskets in the next minute of play to put the game out of reach. It was the second straight win for the Blue Devils. They were victorious last Monday at Pitt-Bradford. They close out the first semester Dec. 15 at home against Medaille in Dods Hall.
