SUNYIT shooters take down Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- SUNYIT used a stretch of three-point shooting to parlay a double-digit deficit into a 87-68 SUNYAC road win Friday over Fredonia State.

Two straight three-point baskets by Chantal Bien-Aime (Rockland), followed by two more by Chris Plante (Whitesboro) triggered a 36-9 Wildcat run covering a span of eight minutes.

Chris Laboard (Bronx) had nine of his 14 points during the run, which saw the Wildcats (13-10, 9-6 SUNYAC) turn a 45-36 halftime deficit into an eventual 74-57 lead.

SUNYIT outscored their hosts 51-23 in the second half.

Plante finished with 19 points, Chris Reaves (Syracuse) with 18, and Bien-Aime with 16, incliding 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.

Fredonia State's Tim Anderson (Jamestown/Jamestown) led all scorers with 31 points, 21 of them in the first half. He was 7 of 12 from three-point range.

Taha Alassari (Brooklyn/Sweet Home) added 13 and Chris Donahue (Olean/Olean) had 11.

Fredonia State shot 45.9 percent in the first half, only to tail off in the second half (8 of 28, 28.6 percent).

The Blue Devils (9-15, 4-11 SUNYAC) close out their season with a home game 8 p.m. Saturday vs. Cortland.
