No. 10 Cardinals eliminate Blue Devils
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Plattsburgh led from start to finish Tuesday en route a 72-62 SUNYAC quarterfinal victory over Fredonia State.
The Cardinals (24-2), ranked No. 10 nationally and No. 1 in the NCAA Division III East Region, took a 3-0 lead on a basket by Khylan Hunt 13 seconds into the game. They led thereafter and were up by as many as 18 points in the second half.
Rich Buckmon led the Blue Devils (9-17) with 13 points, Kyle Gordon added 11, and Julius Bryant and Wayne Davis had 10 points each.
Gordon and Adam Smith were playing in their final games as Blue Devils. The third Fredonia State senior, Matt Moore, did not suit up.
