Second-half touch lifts Devils over D'Youville

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Fredonia State found its shooting touch during the second half of a 79-66 non-conference victory over D'Youville.

Junior Randall Thomas (Bronx/Ryan Academy, Va.) had 21 points and junior Chris Donahue (Olean/Olean) had a career-high 20 points for the Blue Devils (1-2) in the home opener at Steele Hall.

Junior Nate Sanzo (Westfield/Westfield) added 11 points and had a team-high nine rebounds.

Sophomore Taha Alassari (Amherst/Sweet Home) chipped in with seven points and six assists.

Kyle Ward (Lafayette, Ind.) had 23 points, Ross King (Silver Springs) 17, and Justine Cooke (Lanham, Md.) 15 for the Spartans (1-2).

The Blue Devils led 30-24 at halftime despite shooting just over 30 percent from the field. They heated up in the second half and connected on 19 of 33 shots (57.6 percent).

Fredonia State is back in action Nov. 30 at home against Brockport.
