Goals by freshman Eric Kurzdorfer (Derby/St. Francis) and sophomore Ryan O'Donnell (Orchard Park) accounted for Fredonia State's scoring. Kurzdorfer scored his first collegiate goal, assisted by junior Sam Stewart (Jamestown), in the 34th minute. O'Donnell's eventual game-winning score came in the 48th minute. It was his fifth goal of the season, and was unassisted. Potsdam's Mike Hooker cut Fredonia State's lead in half, to 2-1, in the 74th minute. It was one of four shots taken by the Bears (4-9-1, 1-7-1 SUNYAC), two of which were stopped by Fredonia State senior goalkeeper Scott Bergen (Schenectady/Mohonasen). The Blue Devils (9-5-1, 7-1-1 SUNYAC) took five shots and held an 8-7 edge in corner kicks. With two conference games remaining, the Blue Devils remained at least one point ahead of Brockport and at least three points ahead of Plattsburgh in the chase for the top playoff berth. Those teams also had games Saturday; for results, visit the SUNYAC men's soccer scoreboard (http://www.collegehockeystats.net/sunyac/standings/msoccer). The Oneonta Red Dragons lead the SUNYAC standings but are ineligible for the SUNYAC Tournament because the program is in the middle of a transition from NCAA Division I status in NCAA Division III. Meanwhile, the Blue Devils travel to Buffalo State for a Wednesday game and visit Brockport next Saturday before closing out the regular season with a road game Oct. 27 vs. Hobart.
