Blue Devils retain regional ranking

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team stayed put in the latest NCAA Division III Northeast Region rankings.

The Blue Devils, who broke into the poll for the first time last week at No. 9, stayed at No. 9 for the second straight week. They earned nine points from poll voters, compared to eight points last week. Two other SUNYAC teams are also listed in the rankings, distributed weekly by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Plattsburgh Cardinals are No. 6 (they were No. 5 last week) while the Brockport Golden Eagles, unranked last week, moved into a tie for No. 10.

The University of Rochester took over the top spot while Union College, last week's No. 1, fell to No. 4.

Fredonia State closes out the SUNYAC portion of its 2007 schedule with two road games this week: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo State, and 1 p.m. Saturday at Brockport.
