Pollsters continue to recognize Blue Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State has moved up one spot in the regional rankings and received votes in the national poll this week.

Benefiting from Brockport's 1-0 loss to Geneseo, the Blue Devils (13-3-2) moved up one spot -- from No. 5 to No. 4 -- in the latest NCAA Division III Northeast poll. Brockport fell from No. 2 to No. 5.

In addition, the Blue Devils have received votes in the NCAA Division III national poll for the second time this season.

Two of the Blue Devils' three losses have been to teams ranked ahead of them in the national poll. Ohio Wesleyan, No. 2 nationally at 16-0-0, defeated Fredonia State 3-1 Sept. 2 at OWU. Plattsburgh is No. 15 nationally at 15-1-0. The Cardinals downed the Blue Devils, 2-1, with two goals in the final two minutes Oct. 7 at Plattsburgh.

The Blue Devils close out the regular season Oct. 29 at Hobart before playing host to Oswego in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament on Nov. 1. The SUNYAC game will be played at Fredonia State at 1 p.m.
