The victory preserved the Devils' perfect SUNYAC record at 6-0-0. They are 9-4-1 overall. A foul on Cortland set up a free kick 40 yards outside the Cortland goal. Rob Esposito (Dover Plains/Dover) lofted a shot that was headed in by Lee Wilson (Fairport/Fairport) at 66:14 that proved to be the game-winner. The Devils' other goal was scored by Trevor Ianni (Rochester/Gates Chili) at 58:59. Cortland's lone goal came off the foot of Sean Malone in the 13th minute. Fredonia State junior goalkeeper Scott Bergen (Schenectady/Mohonasen) collected five saves. The Cortland goal was the first Bergen has allowed in six conference games thus far. Steve Axtell made six saves for Cortland. The Red Dragons fall to 3-2-1 in conference play and 5-5-3 overall. Fredonia State travels to Geneseo and Brockport next weekend.
