Huber's OT goal sends Devils into ECAC final

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Sophomore midfielder Chris Huber (Horseheads/Horseheads) had no points heading into the ECAC Upstate New York Tournament.

Neither did sophomore midfielder Jeff Moretti (Rochester/Pittsford Mendon).

That changed during the overtime session Saturday vs. Union College at SUNY Oneonta, resulting in a 1-0 Blue Devil win.

Moretti sent a crossing pass into the top of the 18-yard box. Huber gathered in the ball with his back to the goal, turned, and curled a right-footed shot into the top of the net in the 95th minute of the semifinal game.

Huber's goal -- assisted by Moretti -- sent the Blue Devils (12-7-1) into the tournament title game 1 p.m. Sunday vs. Oneonta. The host team, in a transition year between NCAA Division I and Division III status, advanced with a 5-2 victory over Oswego.

Fredonia State junior goalkeeper Scott Bergen (Schenectady/Mohonasen) made seven saves to earn his seventh shutout of the season.

The Blue Devils were playing with junior forward Trevor Ianni (Rochester/Gates Chili), who missed the final weekend of the season with a hand fracture. Junior defender Lee Wilson (Fairport/Fairport) sustained a season-ending knee injury early in the second half.
