Ianni, Borchard carry Devils over Behrend

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A goal by Trevor Ianni (Rochesters/Gates Chili) and the goalkeeping of Matt Borchard (Williamsville/Williamsville South) carried Fredonia State over Penn State Behrend, 1-0, in men's soccer.

Ianni broke in free on Behrend goalkeeper Matt Zimsak (Butler/Butler) after taking a crossing pass from Alex Parker (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon). The goal came with 16:16 left in the first half.

Borchard completed the shutout by making six saves. Zimsak had two saves for the Lions (4-1-0).

Behrend had a 16-14 advantage in shots. Fredonia State led in corner kicks, 4-3.

For the Blue Devils (4-1-1), ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA Division III Northeast poll, the win improved their all-time mark in the series with Behrend to 25-2-1. They are back in action Friday when New Paltz visits Steele Hall Field in the opening game of the SUNYAC schedule.
