Devils blank No. 15 Geneseo

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Two second-half goals and shutout goalkeeping carried Fredonia State over No. 15 Geneseo, 2-0, in a rematch of last year's SUNYAC Tournament championship game.

Junior midfielder Chris Huber (Horseheads) broke a scoreless tie with an unassisted goal in the 49th minute, while sophomore midfielder Ryan O'Donnell (Orchard Park) added an insurance goal in the 56th minute, assisted by senior forward Trevor Ianni (Rochester/Gates Chili).

Senior goalkeeper Scott Bergen (Schenectady/Mohonasen) made six saves to record his first shutout of the season and his eighth in two seasons with the Blue Devils (2-4-0, 1-0-0 SUNYAC). The win avenged a 1-0 Fredonia State loss when the teams played for the conference title last November.

For Geneseo, junior goalkeeper Jeremy Reeves (Palmyra) made eight saves. The Blue Knights (3-3-0, 0-1-0 SUNYAC) outshot their hosts, 22-17, and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Only seven Geneseo shots made their way on net.
