Four different also had one assist each for the Blue Devils (3-4-0). Rob Esposito (Dover Plains/Dover) opened the scoring at 29:04 with his second goal of the season. The Blue Devils carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. Ryan O'Donnell (Orchard Park) scored the first of three second-half goals at 46:26. It was also his second goal of the season. Trevor Ianni (Rochester/Gates Chili) increased Fredonia State's lead to 3-0 at 64:09, before Alfred's Kyle Brubaker (Whitesville) ruined the shutout bid by goalkeeper Scott Bergen (Schenectady/Mohonasen) in the 72nd minute. It was the second goal of the season for Brubaker. Fredonia State's Sam Stewart (Jamestown) closed out the scoring with his first goal of the season at 85:05. Earning assists for the Blue Devils, in chronological order, were Jack Flechaus (Brockport), Chris Huber (Horseheads), Scott Chimileski (Horseheads), and Jason Renfro (Fairport). For the Saxons (1-4-1), Takuma Kawamoto (Saitama, Japan/Gunnery School) assisted on Brubaker's goal. Bergen made five saves in 81 minutes of playing time. Patrick Grimmer (Bath/Haverling) stopped nine shots and allowed three goals in the Alfred goal in 79 minutes. Fredonia State remains at home for a pair of conference games later this week: Friday at 4 p.m. vs. New Paltz, Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. Oneonta.
