Devils fall to Ohio Wesleyan, 3-1

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Fredonia State lost its season-opener Friday when it fell to host Ohio Wesleyan, 3-1, in the first round of the Fred Myers Invitational.

Three different players had goals for OWU, while Vincenzo Alfieri (Rochester/McQuaid) scored for the Blue Devils. His penalty kick at 79:13 came with his team down 3-0.

Matt Borchard made nine saves in the net for Fredonia State. The Blue Devils face Capital at 5 p.m. Saturday in the tournament consolation game.
