Devils extend unbeaten streak to four

ERIE, Pa. -- A 3-0 non-conference road win at Penn State Behrend extended Fredonia State's unbeaten streak to four games.

The Blue Devils are 3-0-1 over the span and 5-3-1 overall.

Tied 0-0 at halftime, the Blue Devils grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute on a goal by senior forward Matt Mahaffey (Lakeview/Frontier), his fourth of the season. Sophomore midfielder Scott Chimileski (Horseheads/Horseheads) assisted.

Junior forward Rob Esposito (Dover/Dover Plains) made it 2-0, Fredonia State, with his third goal of the season in the 66th minute. Senior midfielder Jordan Berg (Jamestown/Jamestown) was credited with an assist.

Sophomore forward Nick Deck (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) completed the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 80th minute. It was Deck's first goal of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Scott Bergen (Schenectady/Mohonasen) made two saves to pick up his third shutout of the season. He lowered his goals-against average to 0.90.

The Blue Devils will embark on three more road games (in a string of five straight) during the upcoming week. Their first stop is Tuesday at Nazareth College.
