Kyle Hoffer (Bardonia) and Keith Manscuk (Rochester) scored in the 14th and 20th minute, respectively, while Fredonia State's Trevor Ianni (Rochester/Gates Chili) countered in the 64th minute. Oneonta goalkeeper Jonathan Kern (Dix Hills) turned aside five shots, while Fredonia State senior Scott Bergen (Schenectady/Mohonasen) had eight saves. The Red Dragons improved to 4-4-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the SUNYAC. The Blue Devils are 4-5-0 and 2-1-0 in the conference. Hoffer's tally put the Red Dragons ahead for good when he beat a defender and fired a blast just inside the right goalpost at 13:25. The goal was set up with a short through-ball from Larry Pestana (Valhalla). Manscuk increased the margin to 2-0 Oneonta by being in the right place at the right time. He was in position to kick in a rebound after Bergen stopped a sharp one-timer in the box by Dereck Silverman (Pomona). Russell Skolnik (Syosset) also earned an assist for the cross pass he sent to Silverman. The Blue Devils cut their deficit to 2-1 when Ianni, a senior, netted his fourth goal of the season following two quick passes from freshman Peter Dagel (Rochester/Gates Chili) to sophomore Ryan O'Donnell (Orchard Park) to Ianni. Official time of the goal was 63:40. Both goalkeepers made diving saves over the next few minutes before Oneonta ran out the time. The Red Dragons had a 19-14 advantage in shots, while Fredonia State had a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. The Blue Devils are off until Friday when they visit Morrisville in another SUNYAC game, followed by a road next Saturday vs. SUNYIT.
