The Blue Devils (8-1-1, 2-0-0 SUNYAC) have posted seven straight shutouts, the most-ever since the 1959 season. The previous school record was five straight shutouts, set three times (1973, 1986, 1997). Their success on defense this season has the Blue Devils ranked among the NCAA Division III leaders in three statistical categories: shutouts per game (0.80; 4th in the nation), save percentage (.930; 10th), and goals-against average (0.39; 12th). Senior goalkeeper Matt Borchard (Williamsville/Williamsville South) is also among the D-III statistical leaders. Borchard, who has played all but eight minutes in goal in the 10 games, is eighth in save percentage (.929) and 12th in goals-against average (.393). Borchard has seven shutouts this season and 23 in three-plus seasons at Fredonia State. The Blue Devils are back in action this weekend. They have a pair of SUNYAC road games: Friday at Cortland, Saturday at Oswego.
