The win was the fifth straight for the Saxons (5-2-1) while the Blue Devils (4-4-1) have dropped three of their last four. "The thing that's been hurting us the last couple of games is injuries," Fredonia State head coach P.J. Gondek told the Dunkirk Observer. "Tonight we played without our starting goalie, middle back, center forward and center back. They're four of our best players." The inexperienced Blue Devils managed just three shots in the game while Alfred took nine shots, all on starting freshman keeper Casey Acker (Rochester/Gates Chili). He made six saves before giving way to junior Yoshikaru Arai (Yokohama, Japan/Tokyo Jitsugyo) for the final 11 minutes. The Blue Devils hope to return to full strength before their next game, Oct. 1, at home against defending SUNYAC champ Cortland. Athletics Home | Fredonia Home
