Sophomore midfielder C.J. Knapp (Pittsford/Pittsford Sutherland) broke a scoreless tie with 28:38 remaining when he chipped a high ball over Cortland goalkeeper Sean Trask (Alplaus/Niskayuna). The ball took one big bounce behind Trask into the back of the net. Junior midfielder Brandon Derkacz (Hamburg/Hamburg) added an insurance goal with 11:42 remaining following a loose-ball scramble in front of the net. Junior goalkeeper Matt Borchard (Williamsville/Williamsville South) made one save in to earn the shutout, his fifth of the season and 12th of his college career. Senior defender Mitch Irish (Cary, N.C./Fairport) assisted on Knapp's goal. Sophomore defender Jeff Morsch (Fairport/Fairport) set up Derkacz. The Blue Devils (5-4-1, 2-1-0) had a 10-5 advantage in shots. Cortland's Trask was credited with four saves.
