![]() Sports Information Department – 112 Dods Hall CONTACT: Jerry Reilly, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMen's Indoor Track and FieldFreshman hurdler moves up state listFREDONIA, N.Y. -- Freshman hurdler Andrew Power (Victor/Victor) turned the third fastest 55-meter high hurdles time in the state this winter during the Fredonia Early Open at Steele Hall. Power was clocked in a personal-best 8.24 seconds, which was good to qualify him for SUNYAC and New York State Collegiate Track Conference championship meets later this season. The Blue Devils had several other SUNYAC qualifying performances at the Saturday meet. Sophomore Drew Waldron (Freedom/Pioneer) qualified in three events, while sophomore Brett Csont (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) and junior Tim Miller (Cheektowaga/St. Mary's) were double qualifiers. Waldron's qualifying efforts included a personal-best long jump of 6.25 meters. He also had a 13.13-meter triple jump and cleared 1.88 meters in the high jump. Csont qualified in the 55 meters (6.77 seconds) and the 200 meters (23.88 seconds), while Miller's best came in the shot put (12.45 meters) and the 35-pound weight throw (12.68 meters). In addition, senior Nick Lord (Dkaneateles/Skaneateles) earned SUNYAC and NYSCTC status in the 35-pound weight throw (14.38 meters); while freshman Garrett Hart (Lancaster/Lancaster) had a personal-best and SUNYAC qualifying 35-pound weight throw (12.63 meters). The final two SUNYAC performances also came in field events. Freshman Matt Sherman (DeKalb Junction/Akron) qualified in the shot put (12.47 meters), and sophomore Adam Frisbee (Cossayuna/Greenwich) in the high jump (1.83 meters).
