Lord moves up all-time 35-pound throw list

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State senior Nick Lord (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) moved to ninth on the Fredonia State all-time list in the 35-pound throw during the Mary Phillips Invitational held Saturday at Steele Hall.

Lord had a first-place throw of 15.70 meters to move ahead of his current throws coach, Charles Infurna, on the program's top 10 list.

Junior Andy Forma (Elma/St. Francis) was a double winner for the Blue Devils, who defeated Erie Community College and Houghton College in the team scoring. Forma won the mile (4:32.43) and the 1,000 meters (2:44.81).

The Blue Devils had 181 points, E.C.C. 77, and Houghton 43.

Also in the mile, sophomore Mike Pond (Somers/Somers) finished second with a SUNYAC-qualifying time of 4:36.99.

Other top performances by Blue Devils were turned in by freshman A.J. Power (Victor/Victor), senior Jerome Evans (Rochester/Greece Olympia), and sophomore Brett Csont (Dunkirk/Dunkirk).

Power won the 55-meter high hurdles (:08.28) and was second in 500 meters in SUNYAC qualifying time (1:08.74), Evans won the 400 meters (:53.71), and Csont was first in the 200 meters (:23.96).

The next meet for Fredonia State athletes is Friday, Feb. 10, at Baldwin Wallace.
