Waldron leads Devils to fifth place at Case

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Freshman Drew Waldron (Freedom/Pioneer) accounted for 23 of the Blue Devils' 52 points Friday at the Case Western Invitational.

The Blue Devils were fifth of 10 teams in the point standings.

Waldron won the triple jump (40' 7.75") and the high jump (5' 11.5"). He was also sixth in the long jump (19' 5.25").

Freshman Brett Csont (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) and senior Aaron Johnson (Brockport/Brockport) scored in two individual events each. Csont was fourth in the 200 meters (:24.13) and fifth in the 55 meters (:06.82). Johnson had eighth-place finishes in the 400 meters (:54.24) and the 200 meters (:24.30).

Junior Jerome Evans (Rochester/Greece Olympia) was fourth in the 800 meters (2:04.05).

The 4-by-200 meter relay team of Csont, Evans, Waldron, and Johnson was fourth (1:37.27).

Freshman Mike Pond (Somers/Somers) and sophomore Kevin Buzzelli (Grand Island/Grand Island) were eighth and ninth, respectively, in the mile run. Pond's time was 4:46.19, Buzzelli's 4:46.21.

Freshman Tim Miller (Cheektowaga/St. Mary's) and freshman Alex Handzlik (East Aurora/St. Francis) had personal-bests in the shot put. Miller measured out at 36' 7", Handzlik at 34' 8.25".

Baldwin-Wallace won the meet.
